One of the significant challenges in commercial tiling Brisbane is the choice of tiles.

Renovating a business location can be a great idea to spice up the life of the place. It also keeps the appearance updated and fresh, rather than dull and uninviting. However, when it comes to tile selection, there is a recurring question.

Do I want porcelain or ceramic? Both types of tiles are flexible and variable but what is the best choice for you?

Porcelain and ceramic come in various styles and sizes.

There is an endless range of textures and colours available. Commercial tiling Brisbane always recommends choices that are practical and suit the purpose. Moisture is a factor when choosing tiles. How much moisture is in the room? Kitchens and bathrooms tend to have a lot of moisture. If installing commercial tiles in such locations, you want an option that is not only durable but also water-resistant.

If the area is going to see a lot of foot traffic, you want something with durability. You also want them to have slip-resistance. Tiles can be slippery when wet, slip-resistance reduces the risk of someone getting injured on your premesis.

Ceramic tiles are easy to clean. If they’re glazed, the special coating makes the surface scratch-proof and stain-proof. They are also fire-resistant. Colours they have also won’t fade in sunlight, making them a possible choice for outdoor uses.

Both glazed and unglazed ceramics might chip. If this happens, you see the real colour underneath. If you go with ceramics, one way to counter this is to go with an interior colour that doesn’t scratch easily.

On the other hand, porcelain tiles are an excellent choice. They have greater moisture resistance than their ceramic counterparts, which makes them the regular commercial tiling Brisbane choice for kitchens and bathrooms. Glazed porcelain is durable, but tends to show wear and tear more visibly.

When choosing new tiles, be sure to factor in the tile rating. The score starts at zero, which means that what you’re looking at is probably best for wall tiles. The higher the number, the better it frequently handles heavy foot traffic.

It is recommended that you choose tile ratings based on the projected use of the area. If you’re looking at a major walkway in your building, use the highest. If it’s an out of the way room that rarely sees a lot of people, a lower rating could suffice.
